ACUPUNCTURE | Direct billing to most extended health insurers and MSP | Book HERE
Acupuncture has evolved over thousands of years as a component of traditional Chinese medicine. You don't need to have a physical condition to benefit from acupuncture. I consider your body as a whole intelligent system, and not just your symptoms. By insertion of very thin sterile needles at specific points, acupuncture stimulates the natural healing ability of the body through biochemical responses. Many report a sense of deep renewal and relaxation following a treatment. Acupuncture can help to relieve chronic pain symptoms and promote recovery from surgery or injury, address mental and emotional stress conditions including depression, insomnia, and anxiety, hormonal imbalances, fertility outcomes, and safely support all phases of pregnancy including labor induction.
An acupuncture treatment may include fire cupping to loosen local fascia and to promote blood flow, improving circulation and cellular metabolism. Moxibustion therapy is sometimes used to improve cell enzyme activity by its thermal effect. It consists of burning dried mugwort leaf, non-directly, to stimulate acupuncture points on the body.
FACIAL REJUVENATION ACUPUNCTURE
Facial acupuncture is a gentle needling procedure with minimal side effects. It can target excess fluid retention, reduce jaw and forehead tension, address overall complexion, and boost collagen and elastin production. Included is an optional gua sha facial massage using organic cold-pressed rosehip oil and finished with a gentle fragrance-free witch hazel toner. The suggested protocol for optimal results is a round of 8-10 treatments, 2x weekly.
LABOR INDUCTION ACUPUNCTURE (Birth Preparation Cervical Ripening)
Labor induction acupuncture begins at week 36 or week 37 of pregnancy with 1-2 sessions per week until labor. Labor induction acupuncture (also known as cervical ripening) refers to a series of gentle treatments to assist in the softening of the cervix necessary for cervical dilation and the passage of the fetus that typically begins prior to the onset of labor contractions.
IVF SUPPORT
In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be emotionally and physically streneous. Regular acupuncture treatments before egg retrieval and during the transfer process can help to lower stress hormones to benefit the IVF outcome. Following an initial appointment, we will work together to create a treatment plan up until and 1 week after the embryo transfer.
ICBC COVERAGE BENEFITS
British Columbians injured in an automobile crash are eligible for acupuncture treatments through ICBC Care and Coverage Benefits. The program offers 12 acupuncture treatments up to 12 weeks post motor vehicle accident. If you are still in need of care past 12 weeks of the accident, we will work together to create a treatment plan alongside your ICBC adjuster. If you have an ICBC claim number I offer direct billing.
